Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival in Lima, meet and transfer to your hotel.

In the afternoon, we will visit the modern and colonial parts of the city of Lima, the "City of Kings", starting in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, including an overview of the impressive Huaca Huallamarca. The tour later takes you to the Historic Center, for a visit to the Santo Domingo Convent, a World Heritage Site, where the remains of our patron saints, St. Martin of Porres and Saint Rose of Lima, lie. See the Main Square, surrounded by the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop's Palace, the Municipality of Lima and the Cathedral. This section ends with a stop to sample a pisco sour. The final part of the tour takes you to the Larco Museum, an incomparable private collection of treasures from ancient Peru. This inspiring collection helps visitors to understand and enjoy more than five thousand years of Peruvian history, represented by more than 45,000 exhibits.

Day 2

After a buffet breakfast, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel.

In the afternoon, you will depart for a tour of the city, starting in the Main Square, which is surrounded by the city's most impressive buildings. This is followed by a visit to the Jesuit church, the oldest and most important example of religious architecture using stones made from sillar, a whitish-pink volcanic rock common to the region. You then continue through the classical districts of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara, including a visit to a famous vantage point with spectacular views of the volcanoes Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu, as well as the city of Arequipa itself. Then on to Santa Catalina Convent, founded in 1580, with its cloisters, picturesque streets and plazas that remain the same as they were centuries ago. You will also learn about the lives of the select group of nuns who lived there.

Day 3

After a buffet breakfast, you will begin an unforgettable trip from Colca Canyon to Puno. You will travel through the town of Yura, through the Aguada Blanca and Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, stopping at Patahuasi to freshen up before heading to Chivay, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch. You will have the rest of the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel’s facilities or to take an optional visit to the Calera thermal waters.

Day 4

After a buffet breakfast, you will head towards the Cross of the Condor, the best location to admire the Colca Canyon, and, if weather allows it, you will get the chance to observe the majestic flight of the condors. On your way back, you will visit the colorful towns of Pinchollo and Maca, before arriving at Chivay, where you will have lunch. Then, you will have the afternoon at leisure to enjoy the hotel’s optional activities or to take a walk through the Uyo Uyo ruins. Finally, you will return to your hotel in Colca to rest.

Day 5

After a buffet breakfast, you will visit the town of Coporaque, where you will walk towards the San Antonio ruins. Then you will go through the Chivay Indian Market before returning to the city. Afterwards, you will enjoy a delicious lunch in Chivay before leaving by bus to Puno, stopping in Patapampa along the way, where you will observe eight volcanoes. After this, you will depart to your hotel in Puno.

Day 6

After breakfast, we will depart for a full day tour of Lake Titicaca, Taquile, and the Uros Islands. The trip begins early as you head out of the city of Puno by speedboat towards Taquile Island, about 35 kilometers away and 3950 meters above sea level. The culture on the island is old, dating back to Pre-Incan times. The islanders still live according to the traditions and beliefs of their ancestors and are world renowned for their lovely outfits and incredible textiles. In fact, UNESCO has declared the textile art of Taquile Island as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Next, while still on the island, you will visit the community of Huayllano, whose members will show you their normal artistic, handicraft, and farming activities. After this time of sharing, you will enjoy a traditional box lunch and then sail over to the famous Uros Islands, a set of man-made floating islands in the middle of the Lake Titicaca National Reserve. Here, you will meet the islanders, hunters and gatherers and descendants of the first altiplano inhabitants, who still live on totora reed platforms. At the end of the trip you will be taken back to your hotel.

Day 7

After a buffet breakfast, transfer from the hotel to the bus station to board the bus to Cuzco. More than just a bus journey, this trip allows you to view the magnificent scenery of Cusco’s South Valley and makes several stops along the way. You will visit La Raya, the highest point on the road between Cusco and Puno, from where you will get excellent photo opportunities. Then, you will visit the Racchi archeological site, known as "The Temple of God Wiracocha". Your last stop will be at Andahuaylillas, a town where you will find a precious church from the 17th century, which boasts an amazing organ decorated with angels and cherubs. After this, you will arrive to the Puno bus station and transfer to the hotel.

Day 8

Enjoy a buffet breakfast and the morning at your leisure.

In the afternoon, visit the city of Cusco, also called the Imperial City, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The excursion starts at Koricancha temple, an ancient Inca palace and center of worship of the sun god, on the site of which the Dominicans ordered a church to be built, which survives to this day. Then to the Main Square, where you will visit the cathedral, the most important religious building in the city. The climb continues to Sacsayhuamán fortress, an impressive example of Inca military architecture. Then to Kenko, where the sun, moon and stars were worshipped. Next, a visit to Puca-Pucara, which may have been a rest and lodging place for the Inca. Finally, you will visit the Inka’s Expression Art workshop, where you will appreciate how different Peruvian natural products are used (such as plants, fruits, vegetables among others) and you will discover their nutritional, curative and cosmetic properties.

In the evening, you will enjoy a truly unique experience in the Cusco Planetarium, located only 15 minutes away from the center of the city. Here, you will learn about the important relationship between the Andean man and the cosmos. Thanks to special equipment, a starry night will be projected as well as drawings of constellations, which will allow you to experience the wonders of the universe up close. Finally, you will head to the outside of the Planetarium where, if weather allows it, you will witness the most ancient show in the world, observing stars and constellations through telescopes and other instruments of astronomic observation.

Day 9

After a buffet breakfast, depart for a full day Treasures of the Sacred Valley tour, with lunch.

After a stop at a viewpoint to admire the beautiful natural scenery, you will go to Moray to see the enormous circular terraces that were used by the Incas as a botanical laboratory. This is followed by the Maras salt pans, which produce the finest salt in the world, used by great international chefs. A delicious lunch will be served in a local restaurant. After lunch you will continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most imposing building complexes of the Inca Empire and the site of one of the Spanish Conquistadors' rare strategic defeats. Famous for its terraced fields, Ollantaytambo was an effective fortress as well as a religious center.

Overnight in Sacred Valley

Day 10
After a buffet breakfast, you will depart for a kayak or stand up paddle adventure. We will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to The Sacred Valley. We will arrive to Chinchero, where Piuray Lake is located. This beautiful lake offers spectacular scenery, perfect flat water and plenty of birds. We start with a safety briefing and paddle technique on land. Once in the water, we will first get acquainted with the board, paddling techniques, and making turns. Once out of the lake, after a hot infusion, we will relax and enjoy a box brunch, while we enjoy the spectacular views. The afternoon will be at your leisure.

Day 11

After breakfast, depart for Machu Picchu by Vistadome Train. The excursion starts with a train trip to the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. The natural beauty of the surroundings makes the train the best way to start your visit. When you arrive, you will start the ascent to the ruins, which will, without a doubt, be one of your most unforgettable experiences. At Machu Picchu you can see one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World and take some impressive photos. Then head back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch in a local restaurant.

Day 12

After breakfast, you will have the morning at leisure. For an extra cost, an optional second visit to Machu Picchu is possible. You will board the Vistadome train back to Ollanta and transfer to the hotel.

Day 13

After breakfast, at the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to board the flight back to Lima.
