If Bird Watching peaks your interests, then this package is for you. You will be led by a specialized guide for this 6 day/5 night Birding tour through the Northern region of Panama. Each day will offer the opportunity to see many of the 200 species of birds documented in Panama.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to hotel.

Day 2

Following breakfast and an early check out, you will be transferred to Pipeline Road. Once part of the Canal Zone, Pipeline Road is considered to be one of the finest places in the world for birding and nature observation. We will spend time at the Panama Discovery Rainforest center, observing hummingbirds and walking to an observation tower that stands over the canopy of the forest. We will have a picnic lunch at Summit Gardens where we will visit the Harpy Eagle Sanctuary. We will spend time bird-watching around Summit Ponds and Old Gamboa Road in the afternoon before departing for Lodge. (B, boxed lunch, D)

Day 3

With a boxed breakfast and lunch, you will be transferred to Achiote Road and Escobal area. You will also visit adjacent areas to Fort Sherman and Fort San Lorenzo. Late afternoon departure to Sierra Llorona where you will work on the Bird Check list of the day. Dinner and lodging will be at Lodge. (Boxed breakfast and lunch, D)

Day 4

After breakfast, you will explore the beauties of one of the largest manmade lakes of the world, Gatun Lake. With splendid natural sceneries joined with the abundant wild life, such as schools of fish, caimans, monkeys, sloths, birds and much more. Enjoy a picnic lunch before going on a Nature Walk into the forest. Visit the Butterfly Garden at Nattur Centre and observe their life cycle. You will be able to observe the poison arrow or dart frogs exhibit. Along the trail you will cross the main land to a peninsula by a suspended bridge over the Gatun Lake. (This tour is not available on Saturdays.) Afterwards we depart to hotel, where you will have dinner and overnight. (B, boxed lunch, D)

Day 5

After an early breakfast, depart for Cerro Jefe Forest Reserve for a morning of bird-watching. We will also visit Birder’s View in Altos de Cerro Azul. A boxed lunch will be provided so that we can spend the most time possible on the field bird-watching. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B, boxed lunch, D)

Day 6

Following breakfast, you will be transferred to Tocumen International Airport for your flight home. (B)
