Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Managua International Airport – Managua

After arrival in Managua you are met by our representative and brought to your hotel in Managua. Managua, Nicaragua's capital is home to almost two million inhabitants and is easily the largest city in Nicaragua. Accommodations in Managua.

Day 2

Managua – Matagalpa / Selva Negra

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we are going to travel to the north side of the country. Matagalpa is known as the “La perla del septentrión” due its nature features, also known as the "Capital of Production" for its varied agricultural and commercial activity.

We will take you to Selva Negra is an Ecolodge, an organic farm, and bird-friendly coffee estate in the Highlands of Northern Nicaragua. Whether you are searching for wildlife, touring the Ruta del Café, or simply relaxing in a romantic getaway, we know you'll enjoy your stay. At your arrival free time to explore the path of the hotel, ask in reception for the map to walk around the self-guide trails. Accommodations in Matagalpa.

Day 3

Selva Negra

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning at 10.00 am we will do a sustainable tour of the farm, is an experience that you must live in your visit. Selva Negra is recognized for pioneering innovative methods and crops sustainable. On this tour, in minibus, you can see some of these methods of sustainable farming that they have earned this reputation to the farm. Passed through the organic laboratory, the homes of workers and greenhouses, cheese, chicken farmer and learn about barn where meals served in the restaurant, you will also learn about cattle, pastures.

In the afternoon at 02.00 pm, we will learn about coffee, on this tour (from seed to cup of coffee) you will learn more than just the coffee process. History, location, climate, topography, sustainable use of by-products and programs social are among many other things to learn. You will visit nurseries, coffee plantation, organic lab - on organic farming methods and composting. The tour will continue to see the harvest and the measure of coffee, follow the truck to the benefit (factory) where you can see the process and end the trip in our museum with a cup coffee where the guide will answer any remaining questions.

Day 4

Matagalpa/ Selva Negra – León

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we will move to the city of Leon, founded in 1610. The city served as capital of Nicaragua on multiple occasions after independence in 1821, alternating the title with Granada until Managua was named the official capital.

In the afternoon we will visit the museums, art galleries, colorful colonial, beauty architecture, and imposing cathedral, and the facades of its churches. We will visit the museums Mitos y Leyendas, Rubén Darío Museum and the Art Center of the Ortiz Gurdián Foundation composed by two restored, colonial buildings. In each building houses you will find different expositions of paintings, sculptures, images and contemporary arts. Then we will visit the Cathedral is the most prominent building, declared a Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO in 2011. Leon´s Cathedral is closed on Sunday, Ruben Dario Museum & Foundation Ortiz Guardian closed on Monday. Accommodations in Leon.

Day 5

León – San Juan del Sur

Today you leave León for the perfect beach spot at the Pacific: San Juan del Sur.

Once a quiet fishing town, San Juan del Sur has emerged into one of the nation´s leading Pacific coast destinations. Accommodations in San Juan del Sur.

San Juan del Sur

Day at leisure to enjoy the beach or the beautiful surroundings. Accommodations in San Juan del Sur.

Day 7

San Juan del Sur – Granada

Today you will transfer to Granada for a Half day city tour.

Granada was founded in 1524 and is believed to be the second oldest city established in mainland Latin America by the Spanish conquest. During colonial times, Granada saw much unrest as the city was attacked several times by pirates. Nowadays Granada is characterized by bright-colored Spanish-colonial architecture, visible throughout the city center. The ambiance is very pleasant and there is a wide array of nice restaurants and bars, especially along the boulevard from the central park to the shores of Lake Nicaragua. A city tour by horse-drawn carriage will give you a good sense of the rich history and authenticity of Spanish-colonial Granada. While the city in itself is already an impressive attraction, the immediate surroundings make Granada a place where you will want to spend a couple of days.

On this privately guided walking/carriage tour you will explore the San Francisco Church and neighboring San Francisco Convent built in 1529. Now functioning as a museum, the Convent is home to an impressive collection of pre-Columbian art. Continue on to the beautiful Merced Church where you will have the opportunity to climb to the top of the bell tower and take in spectacular views over the city, Lake Nicaragua, and the Mombacho Volcano. Next, head over to La Polvora Fortress to learn the history of the old fortress and finish your tour in the oldest part of the city where you will visit the Xalteva Church and the old city walls. Throughout the excursion your guide will provide you with an informative and unique perspective of this beloved colonial city. Accommodations in Granada.

Day 8

Granada – Masaya – Managua

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will visit Masaya Market, Masaya Volcano and the Pueblos Blancos and Catarina. In the morning we will visit the village of San Juan de Oriente, famous for its ceramics, and learn the complex process involved in creating this traditional art form. Take a break at the romantic village of Catarina and enjoy the spectacular viewpoint over the huge crater lake of Apoyo.

We continue to Masaya Volcano. Here you will get a chance to visit the Masaya Volcano, one of Nicaragua's most active, and view the smoking crater from the top. Next, head over to the town of Masaya that is famous for its artisans and traditional handicrafts. Cruise the stalls of the market where you will see various forms of traditional Nicaraguan artwork from pottery to leather goods and textiles. Here you will have the opportunity to buy all kinds of souvenirs for your friends and family back home. Then we continue to Managua city. Accommodations in Managua.
