Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival in Bogota, you will be privately transferred (driver only) to your hotel in the colonial center “La Candelaria."

Day 2

In the morning, you will take a walking tour through the colonial center with an English speaking guide. During the tour you will visit the Chorro de Quevedo site, Monserrate hill, by cable car or funicular. You will visit the Sanctuary of the Fallen Christ of Monserrate and a craft market, while enjoying an amazing view of the City. You will continue on to the Gold Museum (closed on Monday) or Botero Art collection (closed on Tuesday) and Bolivar square.

After lunch, you will be privately transported to the sacred lake of Guatavita, about an hour and a half from Bogota. You will stroll around the lake with an English speaking guide, who will tell you about the Muiscas Indians, who used this lake for their religious rituals and initiations of new leaders. According to the legends, this lake is the origin of the 'El Dorado' myth. As an alternative activity, you can visit the salt cathedral in Zipaquira or the salt Mines in Nemocon.

Return to your hotel in Bogota in the late afternoon.

Day 3

In the morning, you will be privately transferred (driver only) to the local airport in Bogota for a direct flight to Neiva (Capital City of Huila department). You will be met and transferred (Spanish speaking driver only) to a beautiful hacienda or hotel just outside Village San Agustin.

Day 4

After breakfast, you will be transferred with an English speaking guide to the famous Archaeological Park of San Agustin, Bosque de Estatuas and Archaeological museum. In the afternoon, you will take a four to five hour horseback tour with an English speaking guide around San Agustin. Besides some amazing views over the Magdalena Cañon and coffee and sugar cane plantations, you will visit some beautiful archeological sites like Chaquira, Pelota, and Tablon. Upon request, it is possible to replace the horseback riding tour with a Jeep tour (a minimum of five persons is required). You will visit 'el Estrecho de Magdalena', the waterfall Mortiño, and possibly the 'Alto de Isnos' archeological park. Return to your hacienda or hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 5

You will be privately transferred (Spanish speaking driver only) to Popayan. In the afternoon, you will take a three hour walking tour around the city with an English speaking guide.

Day 6

You will have a free day to relax in Popayan and explore the city on your own. Popayan (the Capital city of the Cauca department), is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Colombia. It is also called the ´White City (Ciudad Blanca)’ as all the buildings in the center of town are painted white. Because of its pleasant climate, it soon became a religious center with many churches and monasteries. The Colonial buildings were mostly destroyed during an earthquake in 1983, but a large-scale reconstruction of the town took place, restoring the city to its previous appearance. During Easter, pilgrims from all over the world celebrate in the largest religious happening in Colombia. Some of the colonial buildings not to be missed include the Catedral, the churches of San Agustin, Santo Domingo, La Ermanita, San Francisco, El Carmen and the Chapel of Belen, Morro de Belalcazar, Puente Chiquito, and Museo de Historia natural.

Optional tours are available, including a visit to the market in Silvia, a vsit to Purace National Park or Volcano, Coconuco hot springs, and the Termales de San Juan hot springs.

Day 7

In the morning, you will be privately transferred to your hotel in Cali. Upon arrival, you will take a three hour city tour plus a salsa lesson, with an English speaking guide. A salsa performance in the evening is also possible on the weekends.

Day 8

In the morning, you will be privately transferred (driver only) to the Coffee Region, to the lovely Hacienda Venecia, located between Pereira and Manizales. You will enjoy a coffee process tour and accommodations.

Day 9

In the early morning, you will be privately transferred with an English speaking guide to the Valle de Cocora for an ecological walk through this amazing valley, Palma de Cera, where you will find the highest palms in the world. Here you can find palm trees with an approximate height of 65 meters. After an exciting walk through the valley and its cloud forest, you will make a short stop in the little coffee town of Salento before going back to the hacienda.

Day 10

You will be privately transferred (driver only) to the local airport in Pereira.
