Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival in Bogota, you will be privately transferred (driver only) to your hotel in the colonial center “La Candelaria.”

Day 2

In the morning, you will take a walking tour through the colonial center with an English speaking guide. During the tour, you will visit the Chorro de Quevedo site, Monserrate hill, by cable car or funicular. You will visit the Sanctuary of the Fallen Christ of Monserrate and a craft market, while enjoying an amazing view of the city. You will continue on to the Gold Museum (closed on Monday) or Botero Art collection (closed on Tuesday) and Bolivar square.

The rest of the afternoon is free to relax.

Day 3

In the morning, you will be privately transferred to the Villa de Leyva with a visit on the way to the salt cathedral in Zipaquira or the salt mines in Nemocon. Villa de Leyva is an ideal place to experience the feeling of going back in time; a gorgeous little village where the colonial style, beautiful white houses and buildings, large stone boulders as streets, many churches and many plazas have been maintained. The central plaza is known to be the biggest stone plaza in South America. It is no wonder that Villa de Leyva was proclaimed a national monument of Colombia in 1954.

The rest of the day is free to relax and explore this charming village on your own.

Day 4

In the morning, you will take a tour by car with an English speaking guide to the desert area and surroundings of Villa de Leyva, with a visit to the blue pools, the ruins of Monquira, “El Fosil” museum, the archaeological park ”El Infiernito”, the Monastery Saint Ecce Hommo and a vineyard. Upon your return to Villa de Leyva, you will have the rest of the day to relax and explore on your own. Most of these locations are closed on Mondays.

Day 5

In the morning, you will be privately transferred to Barichara (driver only). This village is well known as the most beautiful village in Colombia. Enjoy the illusion of going back in time while walking the small colonial streets of Barichara. In the afternoon, meet your English speaking guide and enjoy a walk to Guane over "el Camino Real." During the walk you will be rewarded with many amazing views and colorful birds. At the end of the afternoon, you will return to your hotel in Barichara.

Day 6

Full day to relax in Barichara, or you may take part in some optional adventure activities in San Gil at an additional cost.

These activities include: Caving, Rappelling, Rafting, Paragliding.

Day 7

In the early morning, you will be transferred in a private vehicle (driver only) to the Chicamocha National Park (closed on Monday and Tuesday), where you will enjoy a nice trip in a cable car to the Village Mesa de los Santos, crossing the magnificient Chicamocha Canyon. Continue in the vehicle to the local airport in Bucaramanga for your flight to Cartagena via Bogota in the afternoon. You will be met and transferred (driver only) to your hotel located within the walled City.

Day 8

In the morning, you will take a walking tour with an English speaking guide through the colonial part of the city, where you will visit two very important monuments, the Palace of Inquisition and the Church of San Pedro Claver. This tour will take about half a day. You will have the rest of the day free to enjoy and explore the city on your own.

Accommodations in Cartagena.

Day 9

Today you will take a full day tour to the Rosario Islands (National Natural Park). First thing in the morning, you will be privately transferred from your hotel to the pier Marina de Santa Cruz, where you will take a speedboat to Majagua Island. Needed items for the day include a small bag with your swimsuit, sun block, personal toiletries and pocket money.

A welcome fruit punch drink, swimming, a towel, boat transfer to the aquarium and lunch are included in your day at the Rosario Islands.

Return to Cartagena and privately transfer to your hotel. The rest of the evening is free to relax and explore the city on your own.

Day 10

You will be privately transferred (driver only) to the local airport in Santa Marta for your departure flight.
