Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, we will take a visit to the modern and colonial parts of the city of Lima the "City of Kings", starting in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. The road passes a Huaca or sacred pre-Inca site. There will then be a stop at Parque del Amor (Lovers Park) in Miraflores for its magnificent view over the Pacific Ocean. The tour also includes the Historic Centre based on the Main Square, where the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop´s Palace, the Municipality of Lima and the Cathedral are located, as well as a visit to one of the largest colonial-era convents.

Day 2

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representatives and transferred to the hotel. The rest of the morning is free to rest and get acclimatized to the altitude. In the afternoon, you will visit the Imperial City, a living example of the mixture of Andean and Spanish cultures. You will start the tour in the Koricancha Temple, an ancient Inca palace and main worship site for the Sun God. Then, you will visit the Main Square, where you’ll take a tour of the Cathedral. You will make a stop at the San Cristobal Viewpoint, from where you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the city. You will continue over to the Sacsayhuamán Fortress, an awe-inspiring feat of Incan military architecture that reigns over the city. Then, you will visit the Kenko archeological site and the panoramic view of the Puca-Pucara archeological complex. Finally, you will stop by the Inka’s Expression art workshop, which introduces you to artists working with silver, paint and wood; the perfect visit to further understand Andean art.

Day 3

The first destination for today is Chinchero, a small and colorful town with an important Incan archeological site, built towards the end of the 1400’s, as well as a beautiful and traditional church. You will visit “Urpi”, a famous textile center where the townspeople have preserved traditional Andean weaving techniques and where they’ll also show you how to obtain the bright color they put into their fabrics. On your way to Ollantaytambo, you will stop at the Racchi viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy some of the best views of the Sacred Valley. Then, lunch will be served at a local restaurant. You will continue towards Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative archeological sites of the ancient Inca Empire and one of the few sites where the Spanish lost an important battle. Widely known for its terraces (dug into the mountainsides for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a fortress that also served as a temple. We will then continue to the adjacent town of Ollantaytambo, “a living Inca city”, the best existing example of the Incan urban planning, with beautiful stone streets that have been inhabited since the 13th century.

Day 4

Awaiting you today is by far and away one of the high points in world tourism: Machu Picchu. Your adventure starts on a train ride to the city of Aguas Calientes, where you will disembark and then board a bus that drives you to the actual Machu Picchu archaeological site, where you will definitely have an experience you will never forget. You will discover this new 7 Wonder of the World and UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site; afterwards, there is some free time for you to explore the site on your own, to relax, or to meditate. At the agreed upon hour, you will descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch at a local restaurant and, later on, return by train to Cusco, then transfer to your hotel.

Day 5

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Puerto Maldonado. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representatives and transferred to the river port for your departure by motor canoe to the selected lodge. If needed, there will be a stop to shop for last-minute supplies. In the afternoon, we will arrive at the lodge. All activities available to you will be indicated by our tour guide: nature walks, canoe excursions, and bird watching.

Day 6

All available activities will be indicated by the tour guide. The southeastern Peruvian rainforest is one of the wild, untamed, uninhabited hotspots of the planet.

Day 7

Enjoy the morning at your leisure.

An optional activity can be arranged with your tour guide. We highly recommend bird watching from a natural or artificial viewing spot. At the scheduled time, return by motor canoe to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport to take your flight to Lima. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representatives and transferred to the hotel. The afternoon will be at your leisure to rest, do some optional activities or last-minute shopping in the Indian markets and exclusive boutiques where you can find clothes made of vicuña and alpaca wool.

Day 8

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to take your international departure flight.
